Who Is Derek Rake?
First of all, a clarification. I am not Derek Rake. This is a review of Derek Rake and his work, and it would be improper or hypocritical for Derek to pen this review himself, wouldn’t it?
Let me first introduce myself. My name is Jimmy Barnes, and I came to know of Derek’s work only about a year ago.
I’ll clarify this upfront: I’m certainly not one of his legion of fanboys who post raving reviews about Shogun Method which you’ll find peppering the Internet these days…
And if anything, I’m highly critical of some of the things that he teaches (you’ll see exactly what I mean later below.) What you read here is the entire unvarnished truth of what I really think about this man Derek Rake and his work the Shogun Method.
In short, this is not a feelgood, “rah-rah” review.
I bought Shogun Method a year ago. At that time, I was struggling mightily with women, and a close friend had recommended the program to me.
The program had worked for him, and having seen how desperate I was, he told me:
“Look here, Jimmy. This should be the absolute last resort for you. It’s not pretty, but it works, and that’s what important.”
My problems were commonplace, but severe nevertheless. I was going through a horrifying divorce, and I needed help pretty badly. I was ready to do anything to get the attraction thing handled. And I really meant anything.
Before this, the idea of using Mind Control to manipulate women would be quite unpalatable to my self-righteous ass, but given my continued failure with women I was forced to give it a shot.
As much I hated to admit it, Mind Control works. It’s sneaky, it’s deceptive, it’s manipulative, it’s immoral, it’s nauseating… but it works.
Still, despite how effective it is, and because of how Shogun Method conflicts with my own set of moral values, my mind had automatically rejected every single idea that Derek had tried to teach me.

I Was A Shit-Stirrer Extraordinarie At Derek Rake’s Platform (Derek Rake HQ)
As a result of my personal objection to Shogun Method’s philosophy, I’ve been known as one of the more “vocal” clients on Derek Rake’s platform (ShogunMethod.net).
I’ve questioned about pretty much everything inside the program, challenging Derek and his band of (very patient!) coaches at every turn.
(Membership to the DerekRakeHQ platform is included with the Shogun Method package. Clients get to ask unlimited questions and get coaching plans for a lifetime. See the end of this review for a walkthrough of this facility.)
Yes, I’ve been the troublemaker at Derek’s own platform, and it’s quite a wonder, given my insolence, that I didn’t get kicked out quickly.
In fact, something weirder happened – Derek privately messaged me with a request:
“Jimmy, I’ve got a favor to ask. Would you mind writing a review about your experience with the Shogun Method? Just speak your mind and do a tell-all about the program, the good, the bad and the ugly. I’ll publish it on my official blog, unedited.”
Derek’s message startled me. I asked him why.
“You already know that Shogun Method is not for everybody. In fact, I don’t want to make Shogun Method available for everybody. A critical (but truthful!) review will steer those who are unsuitable to learn Shogun Method away elsewhere.”
That made a lot of sense. In fact, that was my main beef with the Shogun Method – that it was freely available to everyone (even to those who had malicious reasons to use Shogun Method… more on this later.)
So, this is how I ended up writing this Derek Rake review (on Derek’s very own blog nevertheless!), and as you already see, this is not a “rainbow and roses” account of the Shogun Method.
If anything, it’s gonna turn somewhat ugly soon enough. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
Beware of Fake Derek Rake Reviews Online
Before I start, let me first alert you about the nature of reviews that you see online.
Like anything you read on the Internet, consume with a liberal dose of salt. (Yes, even this piece of review that you are reading now.)
You should naturally get your guard up when you see reviews which are unnecessarily gushing about a product.
Here’s what I realized while researching for information products online…
Reviews which are exceedingly positive for no tangible reasons are usually written by loathsome “affiliate marketers” to stand to receive commissions from the product owner.
These are usually thin articles with attention baiting titles (“Is Shogun Method A Scam?”) laced with ugly affiliate links placed inside paragraphs of overly glowing and enthusiastic drivel.
Anyone who has seen these a few times will readily recognize their footprint from a mile away (poorly written articles, clickbait titles, super fugly design, stock pictures). So, as long as you keep an eye out for them, these affiliate reviews are pretty much harmless.
What’s more insidious are fake reviews.
In fact, I’ve seen one negative Derek Rake review which was absolutely abhorrent.
No, I won’t link to it because I don’t want to give it more publicity than it should.
That piece of junk was perhaps as legitimate as an email from a rich Nigerian prince. Full of inaccuracies, insinuations and half-truths, it was clear that the writer was doggedly determined to smear Derek.
He had so much venom against Derek that it made my proverbial Spidey sense tingle…
After poking about his site a little more, his game plan became clear as day to me.
I found that elsewhere in the site, he was promoting a “Guru” product which pretty much competed head-on with Shogun Method.
What this little vermin does is that he trashes Shogun Method in order to come across as a straight shooter in order to make his recommendation of the Guru product look impartial.
So dishonest that it made my blood curdle!
Here’s the deal:
To protect yourself from wasting time (or worse, getting misinformed) from fake online reviews, ask yourself these two questions:
- Are there affiliate links peppered anywhere inside the review? (If there are, then the review is not impartial, simple as that.)
- If the review is negative, does the writer promote OTHER programs which he is especially enthusiastic about? (If yes, then check for affiliate links also.)
In short: don’t get suckered!
Shogun Method Review: Let’s Start With The Bad…
Different from “conventional” reviews of Derek Rake’s work, I’ll start with its bad points which should make you think twice before you jump into one of his programs…
Here’s my main gripe with the Shogun Method in one sentence:
Giving Shogun Method to amateurs is like handing a loaded revolver to a toddler.
Frankly, it’s an overkill.
To clarify, this is not a knock on the program’s efficacy… in fact, it works far better than everything else I’ve ever seen. And that, my friend, is not an exaggeration at all.
(I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve pretty much read every well-known Pickup Artist or “PUA” ebooks out there as I was extremely desperate as I was getting divorced by my wife. Those “PUA” crapola couldn’t be compared to the Shogun Method at all, truth be told. The difference was like night and day.)
Would you use a flame thrower to light a candle?
An evil operator like Hitler would use something like Fractionation to manipulate and control the masses. (Watch his translated speeches on YouTube and you’ll notice the more insidious elements of Shogun Method in what he says.)
Would you use something that has been utilized by a monster like Hitler to, cough, attract the love of your life?
OK, don’t get me wrong now.
I’ve been through really difficult times in my relationship myself.
My wife had dumped me for a man she knew for years at work. And to make things about ten times worse, he was married, and she was leaving me to be his fucking mistress.
I had loved her with all my heart. You can’t possibly imagine how it felt when she said she was leaving me.
(Imagine getting your head pulverized repeatedly with a ten ton hammer as you get steamrolled by charging locomotive.)
We had a five year old daughter (Amanda), and guess what? She was threatening to take her away from me, too.
At the risk of sounding absolutely hypocritical, despite my (moralistic) objections to Derek’s teachings, I had used Shogun Method’s “evil” techniques to get my wife back.
(Oh yes, she did come back to me. I’ll spare you the details, but all it took was a dose of the Black Rose Sequence from Shogun Method’s Enslavement module.)
Here’s the key difference though –
I absolutely condone the usage of Shogun Method in extreme cases (such as mine).
For fixing marriages, for instance. Especially when there are kids involved.
Or, if you’re getting played like a fiddle. (Read this if you don’t know if you’re being played or not. It’s pretty important.)
Or, in life or death circumstances.
Correspondingly, I absolutely disagree when Shogun Method is used to handle every trivial dating problem that one encounters.
For example, these are examples of REAL questions being posted on DerekRakeHQ every single day:
- “She has not replied to my text since four hours ago. Shall I hit her with another dose of FRACTIONATION?”
- “She seems to be really fond of this other guy that she has met at work. To be safe, should I use BOYFRIEND DESTROYERS on her? I don’t want to take chances!”
- “She’s going away on a trip. How can I use ENSLAVEMENT STRATEGIES on her so that she doesn’t stray?”
- “I had sneakily used IMPLANTED COMMANDS with my friend’s girlfriend, and she seems to be a little woozy now whenever she is with me. How do I seal the deal with her?”
- “I am thinking of proposing to my girlfriend of ten years. To get a sure “yes”, can I use the BLACK ROSE SEQUENCE on her?”
In each of these circumstances, the Shogun Method is entirely unnecessary.
If anything, this shit can even backfire!
Black Rose Sequence – Arming Kids With Knives?
For example, there was this nutjob (on DerekRakeHQ – yes, that place is full of nutjobs) who couldn’t shake off a casual acquaintance who he had ENSLAVED after he “tried” the Black Rose Sequence on her.
(He was just using her for target practice!)
She had been stalking him for weeks (sometimes by turning up unexpectedly at his doorstep at unlikely hours of the morning) until he was sick of her.
At DerekRakeHQ he posted a compilation video of her (surprisingly she was quite a looker with a shapely, petite figure and red, luscious lips) knocking on his door at different times of the day (and night.)
Accompanying the video was this call for help:
“Derek & coaches… please un-hypnotize this woman. She’s becoming a fucking nuisance!”
Bottom line: guys shouldn’t be using Shogun Method indiscriminately when they don’t need to do so.
Just because you have a gun it doesn’t mean that you should go shooting everybody in sight.
Of course, the temptation is great especially for the newbie who first stumbled upon this body of knowledge.
I can attest to this. After getting hammered black and blue by my continued failure with women, when I first saw the Shogun Method, it was the exalted answer to my desperate prayers.
And when I first logged on to the DerekRakeHQ platform, I was like a kid in the proverbial candy shop. So many tricks to try, and they all look tantalizingly powerful!
The truth is that while I practiced restraint, I can’t say the same of the large majority of Derek’s clients.
In fact, it’s a known thing that every once in a while a Derek Rake client would “go rogue” and start using Shogun Method indiscriminately on every woman he sees… leaving behind a trail of destruction, terror and damaged women.
For this reason, I am of the opinion that Shogun Method is regulated and kept out of bounds from people with bad intentions and psychopaths.
Look, don’t get wrong here. I’m all for giving guys every bit of advantage that he could muster in this lopsided game of love and relationships…
… but with Shogun Method I’ve got to draw the line.
Shogun Method: Let’s Now Talk About The Good…
A dating product like Shogun Method should only be judged by one thing: does it work?
To cut the bullcrap: yes, it fucking does.
Still, I feel compelled to point out that if you’re the kind who goes out “sarging” on a Saturday night and hoping to sleep with as many women as possible, then you shouldn’t be getting it.
It’s not a “pickup” product.
In fact, I’d say that it’s not even a “seduction” product.
To quote Derek himself:
“You don’t want to merely pick a woman up, or seduce her. To keep her, you’ve got to enslave her.”
This is also how the Shogun Method is different from other dating products out there.
It’s a program teaching men how to ENSLAVE women.
And as it stands, it remains the only program in existence (as far as I know) that does this.
Of course, like everything else in this space, copycats will soon emerge once an idea catches fire.
As such, I would expect the Pickup Artist cum Gurus to start talking about ENSLAVEMENT soon enough – just mark my words.
ADDENDUM: Detailed Shogun Method Review
Not long after the review above is published, I received the following comment from a blog reader:
“Jimmy, thank you for this awesome review.
I like the fact that you preface the good with the bad. And it’s probably the only piece of impartial review I’ve ever found online about Derek Rake and his work Shogun Method.
What’s lacking in your review, though, are the specific content which is found inside Shogun Method. In your opinion, what techniques work, and what are junk? Also, what’s inside the DerekRakeHQ platform?
It would be great if you do a “micro” review where you can share what you think of each Mind Control tactic (like Fractionation), as well as the specific features inside the DerekRakeHQ platform.”
Fair point, I thought.
So what I’ve done is that I’ve asked a long-standing client (and a senior member of the ShogunMethod.net platform) to record a video of the site to “open the kimono” and show the world what’s really inside the platform.
Watch this video to take a peek –
Below is a transcript of the video in case you prefer to read instead:
Derek Rake HQ Review: What’s Inside
Contributed by Fredo Hill (Shogun Method client & long-time member of ShogunMethod.net)
Hello, my name is Fredo, and I’m doing this video to provide a walkthrough of Derek Rake’s ShogunMethod.net platform.
You see, I’ve been getting emails asking me about what’s inside the Shogun Method package, and so I thought the best thing to do is to record a video of me going through the materials so that you know what to expect when you buy the Shogun Method program.
Sounds good? Great. Let’s go! 🙂
After you made your payment, you’ll be redirected to the login page where you’ll need to enter your login details in order to access the program.
This information is emailed to you in about five minutes after checking out at the payment page. Be sure to look in your spam folder if you don’t receive it in a couple of minutes.
Do note that sometimes purchases do get blocked by our payment processor Clickbank in order to protect our clients from fraud. If you’re having problems, email Kathy Yin, the Customer Happiness Director working for Derek and she’ll sort you out quickly!
OK, so once you’re in, you’ll be redirected to your homepage where you’ll find where your paid products are. Also notice that there are usually a couple of bonuses which are also pre-loaded together with your core Shogun Method program.
Scroll down to where Shogun Method is and click on the “Click Here To Access” button. Then under “Available Content”, click on the “Start Here” link.
This is where all the modules reside in one place. As you can see, the course modules are listed down on the left hand side. On the right are some course statistics, Derek’s bio as well as a link to his entire knowledge base, as well as support information from your dedicated Customer Happiness Manager.
The first thing that I recommend a new client do would be to go through the Quick Start module first. In this module, you’ll get a jump start as you get possibly the world’s most complete training on Fractionation, the single biggest, baddest Mind Control seduction technique there is in the world today.
In this module, you’ll find an animated case study on how Fractionation is used to quickly turn a platonic woman into a “mind-slave” in just a few simple steps.
You’ll also get the famous Shogun Method Rollercoaster guide where you’ll learn how to tell stories that captivate a woman and build emotional connection with her in record speed.
Scrolling further down, you’ll find the scripts as well as examples for the One Sentence Fractionation where you can make a woman Fractionate “lightly” by just using one sentence. Also, all other variants of Fractionation such as Conversational vs Location Fractionation is also here.
The best thing about the Shogun Method program in my opinion is the coaching part which is found at the end of each module. As you can see here, there are nearly 400 coaching requests which have been made regarding the Fractionation module alone.
Derek’s answers are really comprehensive, and are filled with extra tips and strategies which are developed specially for the asker. In other words, you won’t find generic, cookie-cutter advice here.
I can bet that you will rarely see this in other dating advice programs. I mean, the other programs I’ve bought has only one ebook in the download page, and that’s it! Good luck if you think you can get hold of the Guru to ask him questions! 🙂
What’s also useful about this section is that they are real world situations where Shogun Method techniques are put in practice. There’s high chance that a Shogun Method client has been through what you’re experiencing now, and in this section you’ll find the answer which is relevant to your situation.
Of course, you also have the ability to ask Derek questions here to get your own customized answers and strategies. Pretty cool, don’t you think?
On the right hand side, you’ll find the time duration you’ll need to complete the module as well as a progress meter to let you keep track of how far you’ve come. Also, there is a centralized Download Center where you can access all your downloads as well as a summary of the Action Checklist for your easy reference.
You’ll also find Client Submitted Tips where you can get more real world insights from your fellow Shogun Method clients on how to use the program on their specific situations.
(If you have your own tips to contribute, do so and stand a chance to receive free cash vouchers and other gifts if your tip gets published. Pretty cool!)
All the other modules work the same way, except that they all have a leading video which you should watch first by clicking on the Big Red play button. You should always watch the video training before reading the accompanying Study Guide.
Each Module also comes with a Worksheet which you should download and use to aid your understanding of the material.
Of course, if you need further coaching, submit your question at the Coaching Section at the bottom of the module. Derek and/or his coaches will then craft an answer for you.
Shogun Method also comes with the MKDELTA group membership which comes with the core MKDELTA research document as well as a members-only Q&A section.
Last but not least, Derek updates the Shogun Method regularly with new content piped into the Derek Rake Insider’s Lab. Inside the Insider’s Lab, you’ll get more Shogun Method techniques as well as the opportunities to engage with the community about how to use these new tactics in specific situations.
Newly added content include:
- The Insider’s Guide To Physical Escalation
- Advanced Rapport Building With Role Reversals
- Rapport Builder Pattern: The Emotion Path
- Mind Control In Action, Captured On Video
There’s also a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions section which have been compiled over the years with Derek’s 17,000+ clients. This FAQ section which pretty much guarantees answers to your questions if you have any.
All in all, I’d wager that Shogun Method may just be the world’s most complete course on dating and seduction. It’s really unbeatable value for money.
Join us at http://ShogunMethod.com and I look forward to welcoming you to the Shogun Method brotherhood.
