You might have heard the term since it made its rounds about a decade ago. What&#8217;s a Sigma, exactly? Or, more importantly, are you one? And if you&#8217;re not, should you strive to be one?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s answer all those questions and more, once and for all, in this guide today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It all started with the rise of the terms Alpha Male and Beta Male. Different psychologists, coaches, and pickup artists all have conflicting definitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that wasn\u2019t confusing enough, now there\u2019s the term Sigma Male in the mix. It\u2019s gaining popularity as a middle ground alternative between alpha and beta. Yet is it really? And more importantly: Are <em>you <\/em>a Sigma Male?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide will sort the term Sigma in the most important context of all: Your love life. After all, in the end, it\u2019s the only thing that really matters, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is A Sigma Male?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So what <em>is<\/em> a Sigma Male?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer lies in the differences between Alpha, Beta, and Sigma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what are they, really? Well, it&#8217;s true\u2013Alpha and Beta are not classifications of men. Instead, they\u2019re traits that can be developed by anyone. In fact, that&#8217;s what I teach inside Shogun Method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how we Shoguns break down the difference between Alpha and Beta traits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/alpha-male-characteristics\/\">Alpha traits<\/a><\/strong> include strength, persuasiveness, and sexiness. In society, high-alpha men are the <a href=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/attractive-man\/\">attractive<\/a> leader-types. In romance, they\u2019re the guys women have secret affairs with.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/beta-male-test\/\">Beta traits<\/a><\/strong> include gentleness, attentiveness, and affection. In society, high-beta men are follower-types. In romance, they\u2019re the men women lock down in marriage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Got that? Great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, here&#8217;s the important thing to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every man in the world has both Alpha and Beta traits in varying proportions. In Shogun Method, all men fall into one of four archetypes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First, there\u2019s the <strong>Loser<\/strong>, who has low alpha and beta scores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, we have the <strong>Equal<\/strong>, with low alpha, but high beta, scores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Third, there\u2019s the <strong>Abuser<\/strong>, who has high alpha, but low beta, scores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And last, there\u2019s the <strong>Patriarch<\/strong>, who has high alpha and beta scores.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We call these <strong><em>LEAP<\/em><\/strong> archetypes where L-E-A-P stand for Loser, Equal, Abuser and Patriarch. And naturally, every man can, and should, aim be to become the Patriarch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, before we talk about how Sigma fits into the equation, here\u2019s a question for you. Which of the four types are you at this moment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I won&#8217;t judge, so let&#8217;s get real. Which archetype are you-Loser, Equal, Abuser, or Patriarch?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So where does Sigma come in?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the answer: Both Alpha and Beta males suffer one big weakness that Sigma Males don\u2019t have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that is: Alphas and betas are subject to the rules and judgment of the society.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/sigma-male.jpeg\" alt=\"sigma male\" class=\"wp-image-12207\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1;width:448px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/sigma-male.jpeg 650w, https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/sigma-male-300x300.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/sigma-male-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Even Patriarch-type men are accountable to society and women. They can be judged <em>good<\/em> or <em>bad<\/em> by their lovers, colleagues, and even strangers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as such, Alphas and Betas will always feel the pressure to conform to these outsiders. They have very limited control over the environment they&#8217;re in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not the Sigma Male, though. In relation to the society, they\u2019re off-the-grid. They\u2019re self-sufficient and do just fine outside social hierarchies. Like lone wolves, they are. And yet <a href=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/how-to-control-your-girlfriend-mind\/\">they&#8217;re in 100% control of what&#8217;s in their lives (their women included)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, very few people, if any, have any power over a Sigma Male. No one can impose any rules on him and hold him to specific expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the dating game, Sigma Males tend to be those mysterious, attractive loners that women love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, Sigma sounds like a sweet deal, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the good news: As with Alpha and Beta, Sigma traits can be developed. You can continue your pursuit of Patriarch status and add those <a href=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/sexy-man\/\">sexy<\/a> Sigma traits at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How exactly do you do that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With what we Shoguns call the <strong>Lone Wolf Persona<\/strong>, that\u2019s how. And I\u2019ll show you how to develop the Lone Wolf Persona in just a second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background\"><strong>ALSO READ THIS:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/derekrake.com\/blog\/female-mind\/\">How To Read A Woman&#8217;s Mind<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lone Wolf Persona<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So here\u2019s how the Lone Wolf Persona works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suggest doing two things to raise your Sigma score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First, focus on a life mission that\u2019s bigger than women. And,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Second, escape any toxic hierarchies you\u2019re currently trapped in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s start with the first one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now, in your life, is your biggest, most immediate goal to become successful with women? Is your overarching purpose to get dates, get laid, or get married?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If so, then that\u2019s a bad sign. It means you\u2019re still \u201cplugged into the Matrix.\u201d You\u2019re trying to live up to someone else\u2019s ideal. And that means your Sigma score is low, and your life is more stressful than it needs to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what to do: change your life mission. It might be some other big goal, or constant self-improvement, or to make the world a better place in some way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the women you meet? They should help you pursue that mission. They shouldn\u2019t <em>be <\/em>your mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you get it now? Yes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s the ironic thing&#8230; having a greater purpose makes women feel more drawn to you. They love a man with a plan. So it\u2019s a win-win. You get what you want in life, and they get a man they love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now for the second step. Are you stuck in hierarchies like work, friends, family, or community, that are toxic? Chances are you\u2019re miserable simply because you\u2019re part of these systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Escaping The Hierarchies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So try this: Escape the hierarchies. Is your work environment toxic? Consider going independent or entrepreneurial. Are your family or friends circle toxic? Consider moving away or cutting them off. You get the idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, these hierarchies will start treating you better once you\u2019re an outsider. Again, it&#8217;s ironic and yet it&#8217;s true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now do you see why it\u2019s called the \u201cLone Wolf\u201d Persona?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You strengthen your alpha and beta traits, pursue a big mission, and escape toxic systems. Continually and relentlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By doing so, you\u2019ll experience less B.S., more freedom, and more success in love and life than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sounds pretty good, right? You might be thinking: \u201cThere\u2019s got to be a catch somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, yes, there is.
