But when we experience both in quick succession, it forms a powerful connection. That\u2019s why people get hooked on TV dramas, roller coasters, or even certain relationships\u2014the emotional ups and downs create a sense of attachment and, sometimes, addiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But before you jump into using Fractionation, there\u2019s some groundwork to be done. You need to set the right mental stage for the person you\u2019re engaging with. This means building both intrigue and rapport. Intrigue grabs their attention, while rapport earns their trust. Ask open-ended questions to keep the conversation flowing and make them eager to learn more about you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rapport, on the other hand, comes from shared experiences and genuine understanding. Find common ground and show genuine interest in their life. Listen actively\u2014make them feel heard and understood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve got their interest and trust, you can move on to the Fractionation technique itself. This involves guiding them through an emotional roller coaster by alternating between positive and negative experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with a happy memory. You might ask, \u201cCan you remember a time when you felt really happy and joyful? What was happening? How did it make you feel?\u201d Encourage them to paint a vivid picture with their words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, gently shift to a negative experience. Try something like, \u201cDo you recall a time when you felt really down or sad? What happened, and how did it affect you?\u201d Again, encourage them to describe it in detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep alternating between these positive and negative memories. The trick is to make the transitions smooth and natural. This back-and-forth creates that emotional roller coaster that leads to a stronger emotional bond.
